Grid-Interactive Efficiency Audit (GEA) Playbook

Description of Utility Need

NYPA seeks partners to support the development and implementation of grid-interactive efficiency audits (GEA), which go beyond traditional energy efficiency audits to include factors such as the temporal and locational value of energy to assess economic and carbon reduction potential. The solution may incorporate advanced data analytics to assess clean energy measures beyond energy conservation, to include energy supply options, energy storage, demand flexibility, on-site renewables, retro-commissioning and O&M, grid services, electrification, wholesale market interactions, and resiliency.

Expected Impact

NYPA is interested in identifying high-value customer decarbonization project opportunities for developing a GEA playbook.

Target Customers and/or Applications

The end customer target will be NYPA customer facilities, primarily in the public sector.

Types of Partnerships and Solutions Being Considered

Desired partnerships may include a software-as-a-service license fee agreement, other service fees, and/or performance payments (e.g., commission for customer acquisition).

Desired solutions may include:

  • Software solutions – capture and analyze building data (remotely or from field visits)
  • Decarbonization playbook to help customers and account executives understand opportunities

Funding Pathways

This solution will be pitched internally at NYPA to the Business Development and project implementation teams. The Business Development team at NYPA drives innovation through origination and facilitation of asset growth opportunities for the NYPA.

NYPA may choose to fund a promising solution out of its product development budget. NYPA’s Digital Utility vision calls for the development of advanced digital customer engagement tools to drive customer relations and support New York’s clean energy goals.
